Eco Tourism and Nature Based Tourism creates the opportunity to generate incomes for both indigenous people/communities and for others who choose to live in some of the very remote parts of this wonderful world in which we live.

Creating employment and subsequent incomes in many areas, is very restricting and often this only being achieved at a cost to the local eco system. By placing a value on the natural environment there is often, far reaching benefits.

Nearly all mammals in Australia and Papua New Guinea are nocturnal, this also being the case with many of our birds and reptiles.
We at Gondwana Connection have a particular interest in nocturnal species, so are only too pleased to offer NIGHT SPOTTING as part of our tours when ever possible.

There are very few places that have ideal seasonal conditions all year and we have designed our tours to coincide with the most favourable time to encounter the target species (see table below). These windows also present the best possible weather and local seasonal conditions.

S.W. Endemics  Tour

Tours carried out from August to December.

Note: The best possible time to observe Numbats is when the young are becoming more independent through October and November.

Dry Country Tour

Tours carried out from August to October.

Note: This covers the prime wildflower season in the southern Gascoyne area. Not too hot.

East Kimberly Tour

Tours carried out between March and July.

Note: March coincides with the end of the wet season, although in some years the wet can finish as late as the end of March.

Milne Bay Tour

Tours carried out between March and November.

Note: September to November is the prime Bird of Paradise display time in this area.

Milne Bay Herp Tour

Tours carried out from March to November.

Note: Most of Milne Bay Province is rarely affected by cyclones, except the extreme southeast area of the Louisiade Archipelago.

Madagascar

Tours carried out in September.

Note: This is the best month to visit as it gives the biggest window of opportunity to explore around the whole country.

Actual tour departure dates are fixed once a booking has been made within these windows. First booking will fix the date and remaining seats will then be filled.
