Gondwana Connection has developed three tours of varying lengths that are specifically designed to showcase the southwest local endemic fauna and flora. We offer a choice of three, four or six day trips.

All three tours will offer the opportunity to see all of the local endemic birds, including the “Big Three”, these being the Noisy Scrub-bird, Western Bristlebird and the Western Whipbird. The four and the six-day tours, will also potentially offer views of the Numbat, which is Western Australia’s mammal emblem and one of only two truly diurnal Australian mammals.

Aussie Bushland

TOUR OPTION 1

This three day, 1200 km trip takes you from Perth, through Albany, Pemberton, Augusta, Margaret River and back to Perth. In the process highlighting the fauna inhabiting our rugged coastline, Karri forests and coastal heath.

TOUR OPTION 2

In addition to the sites and highlights experienced in Option 1, this four-day trip will take you through the Wandoo woodlands of the Dryandra State Forest. This is the main stronghold of the Numbat.

TOUR OPTION 3

After six days and 2000 km, you will have experienced all of the above and in addition to this, we will take in the beautiful Esperance area. This will also include, a half-day cruise to the islands of the Archipelago of the Recherche to view Cape Barren Geese, Australian Sea-lions and many other creatures.

When we use the term endemics, many think mainly of birds, but the South West has many other wonderful natives. Some being Marron, Oblong Turtles, King Skinks, Quokkas, the mighty Karri Trees, all of these are fascinating and we can show them to you should you desire.
